Norman Blankenship

FLINTSONE - Norman Oscar Blankenship, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. He was born in Bledsoe County, Tennessee on June 23, 1938 to the late Jess & Hazel Debord Blankenship and had lived in the Chattanooga & North Georgia areas for most of his life. He was of the Church of Christ faith and was a Navy Veteran. He retired from Sloan Paper Company in 1997 after more than 40 years of service as a Salesman and enjoyed fishing, gardening and bird watching with his wife by his side. He loved traveling, camping, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family & friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother that will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Winifred Blankenship.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 61 years, Billie Ruth Hale Blankenship; daughters & sons-in-law, Kim & (Doug) Gravitte and Debbie & (Alan) Tittle; brother & sister-in-law, William “Bill” & (Gail) Blankenship; sisters & brothers-in-law, Diana & (Harry) Debord, Janice & (Denny) Foster and Nancy Shasteen; 5 grandchildren, Denise Meise, Jessica Cobb, Stephen Tutton, Travis Tittle and Mary Beth Pemberton; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and numerous extended family & friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. On Sunday, June 6, 2021 the family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. CST at Pikeville Funeral Home, 39299 TN-30, Pikeville, TN 37367 (423) 447-2453.
