Wayne Walker

Wayne Lonas Walker, 76, of Ganns Middle Valley, died Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Memorial Hospital. Wayne was born in Soddy Daisy, TN on October 16, 1944, to Homer and Laura Bell Walker. He attended Soddy Daisy High School, graduating class of 1963. He joined the United Sates Air Force in 1965, serving in the Vietnam War and is an Agent Orange survivor. Wayne was a lifelong member of the Chapter 203 Vietnam Veterans of America and a driving force behind their honor guard.

Wayne became a general contractor and carpenter, joining the local 74 Union after his apprenticeship. In his younger years, Wayne boxed, played basketball and baseball, later in his life, he was a league member of Hixson Bowling Alley. He also had a love for tinkering with antique cars and woodworking.

Wayne is preceded in death by parents, Homer and Laura Bell Walker and in-laws, Arnold and Luna (Tack) Gann.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice E. Walker; son, Jason D. Walker; sister, Sandra Walker; sister and brother in law, Bobbie and Paul Flaherty; brother and sister in law, Ronald and Bobbie Walker; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

We are grateful for your prayers and support during this difficult time. We would like to express gratitude to Memorial Hospital, especially the Coronary Care Unit. They went above and beyond in their care of Wayne.

Wayne was an avid supporter of Vietnam Veterans and a lover of animals. We ask that in lieu of flowers; please donate to the Chattanooga Humane Society and Chapter 203 Vietnam Veterans of America. God Bless.

The family will be receiving friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 and Friday, June 25, 2021 at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Melvin Walker presiding.
