Agnes Rudd

Agnes Fine Rudd died on September 28, 2021. Agnes was born on January 25, 1925 in Chattanooga, TN, to the late Dr. Eugene C. and Willie Fine Rudd.

She was a graduate of Chattanooga High School, Class of 1943, and McKenzie Business College in Chattanooga.

For 37 years Agnes was employed with the Hamilton County School System, first as Secretary to the Elementary School Supervisors, next as Record Clerk and finally as Manager of the Personnel Office. Her greatest desire was to always be of help to teachers and principals. She was a member of the Hamilton County Education Association, the Tennessee Education Association, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Retired Teacher Association, the Southeastern and Tennessee Associations of School Business Officials. After retirement in 1981 Agnes became a longtime volunteer in Cardiac Services at CHI Memorial Hospital.

For over 80 years, Agnes was an active member of Northside Presbyterian Church serving as Deacon, Elder, Primary Sunday School Teacher, Circle Leader, and Volunteer Receptionist.

She is survived by her extended family, Joe (Karan) Gooden of Knoxville; Sam Gooden, godson, Christopher (Dr. Katie) Gooden; and their children; Andrew, Emily, and Anna, all of Chattanooga.

Graveside services will be held at Chattanooga Memorial Park on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 11:00 AM EDT, with Dr. Paul Rader officiating.
