Opal Powers

Opal V. Powers, age 85, of Chattanooga, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

Opal was born in Lincoln County, West Virginia. She retired from Ripley Apparel in Ripley, West Virginia. Opal and her husband, moved to Chattanooga in 1992. She also retired from K-Mart on Highway 58. Opal was a longtime member of Abba’s House in Hixson.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harold “Bud” Powers.

Opal is survived by her brother, Jennings “Ben” Simpkins and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, October 22, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Opal’s Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, at the North Chapel with Dr. Ron Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
