Arlene Sanders

Arlene Y. Sanders, 94, of Hixson TN, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2021.

Arlene was born in Cannon Creek TN on April 28, 1927 and graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1944.

She was an accomplished bookkeeper working at Kayo Oil and then for the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. She married her soulmate, HL(Sandy) Sanders on April 17, 1964 and their honeymoon lasted for 31 years. HL owned HL Sanders General Contractors and he managed the construction side while Arlene managed the books, working side by side until they closed the company and retired.

Arlene attended Soddy Church of Christ and loved reading, gardening, decorating and heaping love on her daughter, niece, nephew, grand-niece and grand- nephews. One of her favorite activities was sending get well, birthday and sympathy cards with a personal note to friends and family. She was a delightful, caring and giving person who lived her life by the motto ‘Brighten the Corner Where You Are’.

She is preceded in death by her husband HL Sanders, her parents John R. and Mayme S. Young, brothers William R Young, Lowell W. Young and JR Young.

She is survived by her daughter Rhonda J. Sanders, sister Yuvenne Burdine, niece Karen Mullowney and nephews Alan Burdine and Dr. John R. Long.

There will be a brief graveside memorial service for family and friends on Monday October 25th at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 TN Highway 153, Hixson TN 37343.
