James Goodwin

CHICKAMAUGA — James “Jimmy” R. Goodwin, 82, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021. He was born in LaFayette, was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War and was a lifelong mechanic, who retired in 2012.

Jimmy was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in

death by his loving wife, Martha Goodwin, parents, James Goodwin and Mabel Ridley Reaves, son, Eddie Goodwin, grandson, James Smith, and siblings, Johnny Goodwin, James Reaves, Barbara Woods, Rosemary Goodwin, and Lonnie Goodwin.

Jimmy is survived by his loving children, Donna Smith, and Bobby Goodwin, step-daughter Angela Lopez, siblings, Diane Carroll, Vivian Miller, and Butch Reaves, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
