Lloyd Walker

Loyd D. Walker 95, of Ooltewah, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021. A native of McDonald, TN, he has lived in Ohio and Cleveland, TN before moving back to Ooltewah. He was a member of the Ooltewah Baptist Church and was retired from General Motors.

He was the son of the late Oscar and Hilda Walker and was also preceded in death by his wives, Janice Walker and Peggy Walker; step-son, Charlie Maines; sister, Louise Logan.

Loyd was one of the Greatest Generation going to war at age 17, becoming part of the Navy Frogmen, precursor to the Navy Seals. He served in Normandy on D-Day and later in the Pacific. Loyd was a kind and humble man with a deep love for children and animals.

Survivors include step-children, Lynn Finnell, John Finnell, Rosanne Finnell; sister, Jeannie Walker Jenkins; brother, Rev. William O. (Joyce) Walker; two grandsons, Jason and Joshua Maines; step-grandchildren, April Finnell, Chris Finnell and Angelica Finnell.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Michael Bradley officiating. Interment will be in Lee Cemetery in McDonald, TN.

The family respectfully request that anyone attending the visitation and service to please wear a mask.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service on Wednesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
