Edwin Gaines Lansford, age 66, passed away on Jan. 9, 2022, at Cumberland Medical Center.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1955, in Chattanooga, son of the late Edwin Gaines Lansford, Sr. and Sue Ann Lansford.
Gaines grew up on Signal Mountain near Chattanooga. After graduating from Chattanooga High School he attended The University of Tenn. at Chattanooga where he was a member of Zeta-Phi chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He majored in accounting at MTSU.
Gaines is best known as a musician and began playing drums in the first grade. He was a member of the Chattanooga Boys Choir and played in the drumline at Chattanooga High School. His senior year of high school he was named the best drummer in the seven southeastern states. He was a member of numerous bands and played on Broadway in Nashville, Tenn. He continued playing the drums his whole life.
He liked hiking, fishing, crossword puzzles, the Atlanta Braves and playing music. He was a funny, kind, and compassionate man who loved animals, birds, cats, his friends, his family and his country. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
He is survived by brother, Frederick "Scott" Lansford of Crossville Tenn.; sisters, Virginia Nan (Ginger) Snider of New York City and Sue Ann Jones of Germantown, Tenn.; five cats; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved him dearly
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Jim Lansford, and brother-in-law, Foster Jones.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. Burial to follow at Crossville City Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, from 4:00 - 5:30 P.M.
