Tom Cox, 88, of Hixson, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 1922. He was preceeded in death and the son of the late James E. and Ruby H. Cox of Hixson. Brother James L. Cox; sisters Virginia Skillern and Charlotte Gaines; and nephew Jimmy Gains.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Reba Gunter Cox; one son, Thomas (Steve) Cox (Debora); two grandchildren, Christopher J. Cox (Sienna) and Courtney P. Cox; great-grandchildren, Lilith and Chris; nephews, Mark Cox, Glen Cox, Bobby Skillern, and Mike Skillern.

Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a home builder and developer in the Hixson and Middle Valley areas in the 60’s-70’s. He was also a contractor in the Chattanooga area for many years.

He was an avid University of Tennessee Sports Fan and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed golf at the local links before his health began to falter and a recliner commentator on them all.

He was a beloved husband and father who was caring and passionate for life, for the well-being of others. A mentor to those close to him.

He was a member of the Hixson United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Drew McCallie and Chaplain Mike Justice officiating

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
