Sam Meek

RINGGOLD - Sam Meek went to be with his Lord on January 26, 2022. He would have celebrated his 93rd birthday on February 17th. He joins Minnie Broome Meek his wife of 73 years in their heavenly home.

Sam was a lifelong resident of Ringgold, GA. He started his career as an electrician with DuPont in 1949 and retired after 40 years of service. He made many life-long friends over those 40 years.

Sam began teaching Sunday School in the 1050’s and taught for over 60 years. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, where he taught the Joymakers Sunday School Class and was a member of the Golden Agers. He was a faithful Christian and devoted family man.

Sam was born February 17, 1929 in Ringgold, GA to Samuel Robert Meek, Sr. and Ruby Nichols Meek. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Minnie; brothers James Meek and Donald Meek; Sisters Marjorie Ward and Patsy Stephens.

Sam leaves a grateful family. Children Dennis R. Meek (Susan) and Teresa Hensley (Jeff). Granddaughter Allison Meek Brewer (Norm). Great grandsons Harrison Brewer and Barrett Brewer. And several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to especially thank Tapestry Hospice and the Staff of The Canopy at Boynton Ridge for their care and support during these past several months.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:30 pm at the Heritage Funeral Home in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. Prior to the service, Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 2:30 pm. Burial will be Monday, January 31, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be given to the Parkway Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
