Preston Morgan

ROSSVILLE - Marlin Preston Morgan, 94, joined his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 27, 2022.

He was born in Walker County Georgia on July 31, 1927 where he was a lifelong resident. Preston was a Christian by faith and joined the First Methodist Church in Lafayette in his youth. At the age of 16 he and his grade school sweetheart married and were married for 42 years. He was the co-owner of Morgan Produce Company in Rossville for 40 years with his brother, Neal. The business sat on the property which was the former location of the John Ross House. It was turned over to the City of Rossville for historic preservation. He was a founding/charter member of Rossville Bank now Simply Bank, served on the Board of Directors of Rossville/Southeast Federal Savings for nearly three decades, and was an original stockholder in Gateway Bank. Preston served Walker County by helping in the negotiating of personal property tax law changes with local law makers for the benefit of the County’s senior citizens. He helped several families and local children’s charities in various ways. Preston enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Summerlin Morgan; parents, Clarence Otto and Winnie Viola Morgan; brother, Neal Morgan; sisters, Inez Echerd and Louise Stubblefield; and several nephews and a great niece.

Survivors include his daughters, Marlyn M. Thompson and Karen M. (Joe) Young; one granddaughter, Nicole G. Morgan; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Rosewood and Hearth Hospice for their loving care. Also his caring friends, neighbors, police, and firemen for their help and kindness shown.

He will be laid to rest in the TN-GA Memorial Park.
