Johnny Dale Brooks

Johnny Dale Brooks, 93, of California, Mo., passed away on October 1, 2022, at Valley Park West. He was born March 12, 1929, in Howard County, the son of Charles K. and Doris N. Brown Brooks. He graduated from Armstrong High School in 1947. In his early years he worked as a Corn and Cattle Farmer. Then he went on to work as a surveyor for MODOT until his retirement. On December 18, 1948, Johnny married his high school sweetheart, Nina Jo Hammons, who preceded him in death on February 19, 2018. He served as an Usher, Deacon, and member of Armstrong Baptist Church. Later, they moved to California, Mo., to be closer to their family. While living in California, they joined the First Baptist Church. He was a caregiver to several family members. Along with Nina, they loved going to their grandchildren's sporting events. Johnny is survived by his only daughter, Connie Walk (Keith); three grandsons, Cory John Walk (Lisa) of Jefferson City, Christian Kyle Walk (Meagan) of Springfield, and Curtis Keith Walk (Rachel) of Moberly; great-grandchildren, Bella, Brooks, Charlee, Brody, Cullen and Candrick Walk; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, Johnny was preceded in death by his sister, Mandy Lou Hodgson; two sisters-in-law, and four brothers-in-law. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a..m with Rev. Jeremy Anderson and Rev. Greg Morrow officiating. Interment will follow at California City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Funeral Dinner Fund or Valley Park West Activity Fund.
