Charles Edward Carson, 94 of Ooltewah, died on Sunday, October 2, 2022. He was born in Ooltewah, TN to the late Raymond and Eva Mathis Carson. Charles graduated as the Valedictorian from Ooltewah High School, class of 1946. He graduated from the University of Chattanooga and from the Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology (ORSORT). Charles served in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Major. After retiring from the service, he continued to work at TVA as a Nuclear Physicist. Some of his passions in life included his love for animals and rooting for his favorite sports teams, especially the Braves, VOLS and Titans. Charles was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Mooneyham Carson, brother, William “Bill” Carson; brother-in-law, Charles Davis and his sister-in-law, Betty Carson. Charles is survived by his children, Wanda (Bob) Perry, Ooltewah, TN and Steve Carson (Susan Murphey), Chattanooga, TN; two grandchildren, Kevin (Katye) Perry, Soddy-Daisy, TN and Jeff Perry, Cleveland, TN; two great-grandsons, Stuart, Connor; great-granddaughter, Bradlie; sister, Virginia Davis, Ooltewah, TN; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Friday, October 7, 2022, at the New McDonald Cemetery with Pastor Dwight Kilbourne officiating, with the U.S. Air Force providing Military honors.
