Judy Milam Judy Milam, a longtime Chattanoogan, died Sept. 19, in her adopted home of Charleston, S.C., due to the complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 91. Known for her adventurous, fun-loving spirit, Judy was a mother of two boys, an avid tennis player, a horse-lady, socialite and a member of a number of various social and civic clubs dating to the 1960s. She worked in chemistry, substitute teaching and real estate but was mainly a homemaker in North Chattanooga. She retired to Fripp Island and Charleston in the early 1990s. A native of Manhattan, Kansas, she was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Currie Frierson; her father, Robert E. Frierson; brother David C. Frierson (Mary) and ex-husband, Charles C. Milam. She is survived by her sons, Charles C. Milam Jr. (Jas Sullivan Milam) of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Max and Molly; and Robert C. Milam of Charleston; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Chattanooga at a date to be announced.
