Description
Each table is topped with a work of art that can serve as a conversation starter, in keeping with one of the breezy slogans printed on menus, staff T-shirts and other surfaces: "Izzy's, a place to meet friends. If you've got no friends, Izzy's will find you some."
The artworks are collages created by Heather Isbell, the restaurant's co-owner with husband Robert. The couple took over in 1996 from his father, Bob Isbell, who'd founded Izzy's in 1985 along what was then virtually rural Arkansas 10 near Taylor Loop Road.
A half-dozen years ago, as the westward sprawl along Cantrell Road accelerated, the Isbells moved to the larger present location a couple of miles farther west. They've created a brightly lighted pair of main dining rooms with a spacious and airy feel, dressed up not only by the artful table tops but also by myriad photographs of happy customers wearing tie-dyed Izzy's T-shirts in places as far-flung as Paris and Hong Kong.
