Description

They're offering nearly all of the bagel varieties that NY Bagel did (and more than the handful to which Rx had reduced the list), including the "standards" - plain, poppy seed, salt, sesame seed, garlic and onion - and the "exotics" - apple cinnamon, banana nut, blueberry, chocolate chip, cinnamon raisin, cranberry, honey oat, spinach parmesan, strawberry, wheat and "everything."
They're $1.20 each, $11.70 a dozen. "Schmears" (aka toppings) are extra - 35 cents for honey, butter or jelly; 75 cents for cinnamon sugar, peanut butter or cream cheese (plain, light, honey almond, strawberry or vegetable).
The sesame seed is the most successful in terms of size, taste and texture; the spinach parmesan is pretty satisfying, too, and the strawberry is all right if you're into that sort of thing (with strawberry cream cheese, it was just too sweet). The plain bagels have the right texture and taste, but they're a little on the spindly side.
And yes, MorningSide has lox (smoked salmon), and impressive lox at that. A bagel with lox, cream cheese, red onion and capers is $4.15. They'll leave out any component you don't want (and add tomatoes if you do want) and toast the bagel on request; you can get it all on the bagel or they'll put it on the side and let you assemble it.
