Description
Judging from the number of people packing the place on weeknights, a Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar fills a niche in Maumelle.
It's perfectly usual to have to wait a bit at a Japanese steakhouse until there are enough folks together, from one or more parties, to fill up a nine-place hibachi table. During peak dining hours at Sashimi Japanese Steakhouse, you may have to wait because there are no places at the half-dozen-plus hibachi tables. There may also not be any places at the sushi bar or at the front tables near the sushi bar.
At least the waiting area is fairly spacious. And on both weeknights we visited, the place had pretty much cleared out by 8:30, so if your dining schedule is flexible you might aim for the latter part of the evening.
At Sashimi, the stuff off the hibachi was worth the wait. So was the nigiri (fish on rice), the sashimi (fish without rice) and the rolls.
