The Civil Suit

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

Our tea bagger friends might have trouble figuring this one out so, everyone, just relax. This may take a while.

In the mean time here's some information on the term, 'tea bagger.'

Vendors at tea party events sell campaign style buttons that read, Proud to be a teabagger!

And if you google, Breitbart (as in Andrew) tea bagger, you'll find a video he shot entitled, you guessed it, Proud to be a tea bagger.

So before you get your panties in a bunch over the phrase Tea Bagger, you may want to get with the program.

I bet BRP will hate this cartoon because he can't figure it out...

Just wondering..but is there a reason why the republican mascot has no ears and yet such a long trunk?? Sure..it goes to show everyone they are usually not very good listeners but can 'trumpet' their stance to anyone and everyone within 'earshot'.

And..is there a reason why this 'poor, pitiful-looking pachyderm' above is depicted as an Indian elephant, rather than an African elephant (It's all about the size of the ears)??

Just wondering..Woody

To promote the GENERAL welfare is Constitutional; to favor particular groups is not. So if the GOP pays less attention to skin color than the Democrats, good for the GOP. Content of character and not color of skin, eh? Or if you watch skin color, isn't Herman Cain blacker than President Obama? Re content of character, or effectiveness, isn't Mr Cain better at downsizing? Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, and Condi Rice are sharp ladies, and the first two, at least, are welcome in the part of the GOP that Mr Bennett loves to hate.

I see blackie admits we Tea Partiers take a term intended for abuse, and freely used by POTUS, and use it for ourselves (as perhaps "Christians"--little Messiahs--did 1975 or so years ago). Thanks for the compliment on jujitsu, or on thick skin.

I think anybody with the slightest bit of compassion has to feel sorry for the elephant. She’s completely forgotten that her unscrupulous caretakers put her up for auction years ago. The only thing the elephant has left now is her label, and even it doesn’t mean much any more. The people that bought her have been selling and re-selling the rights to her label for so long and so many times that hardly anybody remembers what it meant in the first place. Anybody with the right amount of cash can buy the rights to her label. . . Yes, I feel sorry for the elephant.

Alprova,

Let me translate Andrews post:

Oh freddled gruntbuggly thy micturations are to me As plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee. Groop I implore thee my foonting turlingdromes And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles, Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon, see if I don't!

Andrew - to favor particular group is not Constitutional. To favor the rich is not Biblical. The Tea Party's lassaiz faire approach to promoting the general welfare does, in fact, favor the wealthy at the expense of the rest of society. Therefore, I find it strange that some folks, who call themselves Christian, would align themselves with those ideals or, worse, suggest that Christ is a "libertarian". Christ did, indeed set us free - free to be servants to our fellow man, not free to promote our selfish interests at the expense of our fellow man.

I've been extremely irritated to see the Obama administration adopting way too much of the same language from the right on anything from deficit reduction to tax cuts, to the confidence fairy to you name it.The Republicans have caused this to be one of the most obstructionist Senates in the United States in history, that continually blocked the hundreds of bills that were passed by the House of Representatives that could have improved our economy when the Democrats had control of both houses of Congress, they have absolutely no credibility whatsoever railing on about how President Obama hasn't done more to get Americans back to work and our economy back on track. This party and President Bush were pushing this country into the abyss when Bush left office and now they've got the nerve to rail on about how their mess wasn't fixed in the last two and a half years when they've done everything in their power to make sure that our economy does not get better, all for political gain in the hopes that the president doesn't get reelected.

Thanks for the heads up about the mascot, Limric. I’ve been hearing rumors about a new mascot for the GOP, but didn’t know the details. Without a doubt, the snake is an appropriate mascot for the GOP's new owners, particularly the Anaconda. Ah, but people don't forget the fact that Clinton refused to sign those first Republican spawned, bloated budget bills two years in a row and shut down the Government until they were brought into line with his demand that those budgets were balanced. The Republicans decided not to test the waters the remaining two years that he was in office.

When GWB was elected, the Republicans found a comrade in him, and went spend on a spending spree that lasted six years. Who can forget the $398 million bridge to nowhere?

If the Democrats did not have control of the Senate right now BO would have been handed Cut, Cap & Balance.

A dog and pony show at best. It increased spending through 2021 in all categories, especially when it came to military spending, rather than to offer cuts, which has been responsible for more spending than in all other categories combined.

Have you even read the bill?

Since I and others on this site are Conservatives, we know the elephant's name. His name is "Rino." The Republican Party has moved to the left e.g. McCain, Bush. The GOP has turned into the mid 60's Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has also moved to the left e.g. Humphey, McGovern, Carter, Dukakus, Mondale, Clinton (Only after he was elected) Gore, and Kerry. (Notice that they were all girlie men) Then Obama (Jimmy Carter II) comes along and he is even further left then the above. He tried his Socialist radical ideas and they didn't work. Now he can't run on his record, so he'll just have to attack, and use class warfare to get elected by getting the takers/victims/morons to vote for him and his fellow libs. Now the moderates, who really decide elections, have no core beliefs. They stick their wet fingers in the air, and vote on which way the wind blows. They did not vote for the far left in the Fall of 2010 and will certainly not vote for the far left libs in 2012. The Republican Party moved left and abandoned the Conservatives and now we are standing against "Rino" the elephant because we don't want a Nanny State Government. We are also T=Taxed E=Enough A=Already.

It has become quite apparent to me that this is a poor format for discussion of ideas so I do not see any point in putting any effort in on that front. Although it is hard to resist taking an occasional poke at the incredibly stupid stuff you come up with.

And the only other person who cares less about your opinions than Clay, is myself. Your opinions about a thing do not matter as far as I am concerned.

BibMike,

chet123 didn't know there were two parties until Obama who is reported to be black, which is questionable, was elected. He still doesn't realize or accept that some people are not loyal or committed to either party and are considered independents. He sure fails to realize that independents actually decide who will be in office and who will not. Party loyalist are about evenly divided with so much blind loyalty they justify any stupid behavior their party engages in and would vote for anyone carrying the party banner.

chet123... I don't think you are tough at all. Ignorant but not tough. I voted for Perot and he predicted what NAFTA would do. Clinton picked it up from Bush Sr. and pushed it through. Clinton even promised to support republicans in the next election that voted for it. I voted for an independent candidate for congress in the last election, many will regret not doing that. Fleischmann is still trying to find the men's room. Obama will probably shoot himself in the ass before the next election. I hope he does and some independent enters the race.

Obama has the 30% of dyed in the wool dems plus the majority of the granola votes, blacks due to race loyalty, Hispanics, Muslims and other minorities that like you have no clue or don't care about the economic condition of this country. The pubs will get their 30% or so of the dyed in the wool pubs and the evangelicals. So, a competent independent could win by swaying a few party loyalist.

REPUBLICAN WAS THE MAJORITY IN THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE, AND THE US SENATE...THEY INTRODUCE THE BILL AND PASSED IT...SO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT..REPUBLICAN INTRODUCED AND PASSED "NORTH AMERICA FREE TRADE AGREEMENT".HARP,I GET TIRED OF CORRECTING YOU HARP...NOW BILL CLINTON SIGN THE BILL IN A COMPROMISING SPIRIT...AND HE MADE A WRONG DECISION GOING ALONG WITH REPUBLICANS....JUST AS OBAMA TRYING TO COMPROMISE WITH REPUBLICANS....REPUBLICAN DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GOVERN...THEY CANT GOVERN
