Chattanooga: School bus catches fire with 34 elementary school students aboard

A school bus caught fire this afternoon while transporting 34 students from Daisy Elementary School.

The bus was traveling on Daisy Dallas Road when the fire started in the engine area around 3:46 p.m., according to a news release.

The bus filled with smoke and the driver evacuated all 34 students.

One student injured an ankle while jumping from an emergency door, according to the news release.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
