Two shootings surprise neighborhood near Soddy-Daisy

A neighborhood in an unincorporated part of Hamilton County between Lakesite and Soddy-Daisy is dealing with a second shooting in as many weeks after a Sunday morning incident left a 63-year-old woman dead.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting at 9008 Wellthor Circle about 11 a.m. and found Sandra Davis, who was pronounced dead after she was transported to a hospital.

Neighbors described Davis as a mother and grandmother. An investigation into her death by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.

Several residents of the tree-covered subdivision between Hixson Pike and Dallas Lake Road wondered Monday how something so violent could happen so soon after another shooting shocked the neighborhood just two weeks before.

On May 18 a domestic shooting around the corner at 2013 Jacquelin Drive sent a person to an area hospital.

The sheriff’s office has yet to release further information on that shooting, which also happened on a Sunday. A sheriff’s office spokesperson could not say Monday whether the two incidents might be related.

County officials did not respond to a request for records of previous 9-1-1 calls involving the two addresses by press time.
