University of Tennessee at Chattanooga basketball coach John Shulman is no longer a candidate for the same position at UNC Wilmington.
Shulman met with UNCW athletic director Kelly Mehrtens on Sunday in Columbia, S.C. to discuss the position.
UTC athletic director Rick Hart said Monday that he prefers to “keep good leadership in place” but would have been prepared to move on if Shulman had departed.
Shulman is 105-90 during his six years at UTC and has led the Mocs to two NCAA tournament appearances.
“You always have to listen, but that does not mean you don’t love where you are,” Shulman said in a UTC release. “I have always said it would have to be a very special place to get my family out of Chattanooga.”
