‘Car “fixes” not always necessary’ and more Letters to the Editors

Car ‘fixes’ not always necessary

I took my car for my regular oil change to a well-known tire dealer in Hixson. When I was finished I was handed a list of things that needed to be “fixed” on my vehicle, including my brakes and rotors.

The list came to over $900 worth of work.

Being skeptical, I brought my car to three other places, and just as I suspected, nothing was wrong with either my brakes or my rotors.

If I had everything else checked, I probably would have found out there was nothing wrong with these other items as well!

When some repair shop gives you a song and dance about repairs, always have it checked by another shop. If you feel you’ve been had, contact the Better Business office at 266-6144 and call the corporate office of the company and make a complaint. They usually will reimburse you in some way.

Allow mayor to finish term

Judge Marie Williams is going to hear the case to recall Mayor Ron Littlefield. I beg Judge Williams to step up to the plate and stop this nonsense. Chattanooga doesn’t need this recall on its record.

The good people of Chattanooga elected the mayor, not once but for a second term, and I think he should be allowed to serve out his time.

I know the three activist groups collected 9,600 signatures, but that is a small percentage of people in Chattanooga.

I think the future looks bright for Hamilton County, with Amazon, and Volkswagen going to build a smaller version of the SUV, and the possibility of Audi coming to Chattanooga and others sure sounds good.

When Mayor Littlefield first ran for mayor, he wanted to surpass the city of Knoxville in population to become the third largest city in the state. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

I worked out of the same office as the mayor before he became mayor and know he is a good Christian man, and he should be allowed to serve out his time in office.

Defend democracy so it can survive

In his book “Bob Schieffer’s America,” he quotes Will Durant:

“While Rome was not built in a day, neither did it fall overnight, He reminds us that the fall of the Roman Empire actually took place over the span of three hundred years, longer than any democrasy has existed. In history’s longview, the idea of democrasy is fairly new. It can survive only so long as its citizens are willing to nurture and defend it.”
