A woman has died from injuries she sustained in a June 28 crash on Brainerd Road after a car chase involving vehicle occupants shooting at one another.

Police on Saturday said the woman died from her injuries. They did not say when she died.

Officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. on June 28 to the 3400 block of Brainerd Road, where they found the woman suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to an earlier news release. The woman was taken to a local hospital.

According to police, people inside two vehicles – a pickup truck and a BMW – were shooting at one another and driving at excessive speeds through the Brainerd Tunnel. The truck hit a Honda driven by the 49-year-old woman as she tried to move out of the way. She was ejected from the vehicle.
