CLEVELAND, Tenn. — With a long-range planning report just finished after nearly a year’s work, some Bradley County commissioners are asking why they should fund a follow-up study now.
County planner Corey Divel told commissioners Monday that while the strategic plan looked at growth scenarios up to 2035 and focused on three target areas — northern and southern Bradley and the downtown Cleveland core — the proposed study would focus on the details of that growth.
The Cleveland City Council already has committed to paying half the expected $125,000 local portion of funding. The commission’s Monday agenda includes a vote on the county half.
The county Finance Committee approved the county funding on a 3-2 vote, Chairwoman Connie Wilson said.
Commissioner Bill Winters asked if the prior County Commission, which approved the strategic plan, supported a follow-up “comprehensive” plan with the extra cost.
