Al Chapman has resigned as the city’s human services director, Richard Beeland confirmed Tuesday.
Beeland said Chapman’s resignation will be effective in a week or so.
“He had an interim position, and he completed his task,” Beeland said. “He’s done an exceptional job and really got the department turned around.”
In June 2010 Chapman was moved from the position of the city’s Faith-Based and Community Partnerships administrator to interim director of the city’s Human Services Department.
Chapman is planning to work for the Maclellan Foundation, a faith-based nonprofit in Chattanooga, Beeland said.
