Looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for that hard-to-please person on your gift list?

A short day-trip up I-24 to Monteagle Mountain could solve your problem.

Members of Tennessee Craft – South are holding their 2016 Holiday Tour of Artists’ Studios and Galleries from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Saturday, Dec. 3, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST Sunday, Dec. 4. There are 11 tour stops where nearly three dozen artists will show and sell original artwork and fine crafts ranging from pottery and paintings to jewelry and furniture.

At its inception, says spokeswoman Mary L. Lynch, the tour ranged from Chattanooga to Tullahoma, but gradually it has focused more on the Monteagle and Sewanee area because of the concentration of artists and exhibition spaces on the mountain.

The Monteagle studio of Glyn and Will Melnyk has been added this year, featuring the Melnyks’ handwoven textiles. Sewanee artists’ studios open for the tour include those of Bob Askew, Pippa Browne, Ben Potter, Claire Reishman and Merissa Tobler. Other Sewanee locations displaying work are the American Legion Hall, Locals Gallery and St. Mark’s Hall at Otey Parish. St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School will host a display in the Spencer Room and a group exhibition in the SAS Art Gallery in the Simmonds Building.

Light refreshments will be available at most locations.

Tennessee Craft – South is a chapter of Tennessee Craft, formerly known as Tennessee Association of Craft Artists. The mission of Tennessee Craft is to develop and promote the crafts and craftspeople of the state, offer professional development workshops and mentoring opportunities.

Bright yellow signs mark the route. Maps are available at all locations on the tour, sponsor locations and at www.tennesseecraft.org/south.
