All but one Hamilton County commissioner will be going paperless in January.
Rather than working from stacks of paper resolutions and agendas, they’ll be working wirelessly with Apple iPads.
Commissioners and County Clerk Bill Knowles have been moving all year toward making information available electronically. By law, the clerk’s office serves as secretary for the commission.
Currently, commissioners must call Knowles’ office to pull resolutions from a searchable database if they need more information on a matter. Chairman Larry Henry said Commissioner Jim Fields began asking for the technology earlier this year.
“We’ll have sort of a library there to fall back on to pull up things that we need,” Henry said. “It will cut down tremendously on the amount of paper we’ll have to use.”
