Good morning, reading friends. Virginia Akins of Dalton, Georgia, begins the conversation today, and it’s about Agan’s Bakery in Cartersville, Georgia. This bakery “has the best chocolate drop cookies I have ever tasted. I am sure other bakeries have them. Your readers have helped me out before, and I hope you can again. The cookie part has crushed pecans.” The bakery’s website has a photo of a cookie with a thick “drop” of chocolate icing.
The next request came anonymously, from one who used to love Stouffer’s frozen spinach souffle and found a package recently at the Mountain Market on Lookout Mountain. “Please ask your readers if they have a good recipe for homemade spinach souffle.”
VEGGIE SOUP
Now we resume the conversation begun by a college student who makes a pot of soup every weekend to provide a week’s worth of make-ahead healthful meals.
Rhonda McDaniel offered another soup suggestion. She wrote, “This is a recipe I used often for lunch during my working years. I was never big on a cold lunch. Warm soup tasted good then and now without being a heavy meal. This recipe can be modified easily. I have also included ground beef, leftover honey-baked ham and even kielbasa for a husband who always wants meat. No meat and only vegetables with a bit of barley is also nice. With summer produce being in season, this soup can please anyone.
