New University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach Rusty Wright received the pledges of two more recruits Sunday, adding to a quickly growing class of potential signees for 2019.
Daniel Brent, a linebacker from Alabama’s Madison Academy, and Lance Jackson, a running back from Georgia’s Norcross High School, are the latest players to commit to the Mocs and Wright, who was hired last month.
Brent (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) helped his team to a 10-2 record and the Region 8-5A championship this past season, when he had more than 70 tackles and added more than 600 yards as a running back. An all-region first-team selection, he originally committed to Austin Peay and also had offers from Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State and South Alabama.
Jackson (5-10, 185) rushed for 536 yards and six touchdowns for a deep team that plays in Georgia’s highest classification. He also plays basketball and is one of the state’s fastest track athletes. Jackson is listed as having been timed at 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash time in addition to clocking 11.2 in the 100-meter dash and 22.96 in the 200. He is the second running back in UTC’s 2019 recruiting class, joining early signee Ailym Ford from South Carolina.
The start of the traditional signing period is Feb. 6, national signing day.
