Fighting illiteracy is an everyday issue that area teachers, as well as those around the country, battle every day.

Very soon, they’ll have help from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball team.

UTC has joined the Coaching for Literacy program, which has been added to its “Assistant Coach Program” this season. The announcement was made in a UTC release Wednesday afternoon.

CFL will conduct an online auction where the winner will provide a monetary donation. They will receive a pair of all-access, “assistant coach” passes when the Mocs host Mercer on Feb. 19. The winners will have courtside access, admittance to the locker room, autographed memorabilia and college specific attire provided by CFL partner Petar Millar.

The donation is then reallocated by CFL to its effective literacy partners in both Memphis and Chattanooga.
