Yellow Dragon Productions is bringing the comic genius of Steve Martin to the stage when the actors present “The Underpants” in St. Luke United Methodist Church’s Marshall Hall, 3210 Social Circle.
The comedy stars Dennis Parker as Theo Maske and Amanda West as his wife, Louise. The German farce was adapted by Steve Martin from the play written by Carl Sternheim, “Die Hose.”
Theobald Maske has an unusual problem: His wife’s underpants won’t stay on. One Sunday morning they fall to her ankles right in the middle of town – a public scandal! Mortified, Theo swears to keep her at home until she can find some less unruly undies.
Amid this chaos, he’s trying to rent a room in their flat. The prospective lodgers have some underlying surprises of their own.
This bawdy comedy with adult themes and language is rated PG-13.
“The Underpants” is directed by Joel D. Scribner, Yellow Dragon Productions’ founder and artistic director. Rounding out the cast are Samantha Teter, Garrett Henson-Hinck, Rider Barnum and Donald Strickland.
Performances are scheduled Fridays-Saturdays, Feb. 1-2 and 8-9, at 7:30 p.m., with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sundays, Feb. 3 and 10.
Ticket prices are $15 adults, $10 students. Tickets are available at yellowdragonproductions.org or at the door.
