Reaching out to Ringgold

Josh Turner says he sings just “a handful” of benefits in a year. But he readily offered a hand up to Ringgold High School after seeing the devastation an EF-4 tornado left in the North Georgia town April 27.

“I’ve been down there since the tornado came through, and it’s wild seeing what it did. Aside from homes and lives lost, just seeing those trees blown one direction then another on the other side of the road … that’s pretty powerful,” he said in a telephone interview.

Turner will headline “After the Storm: Coming Together Benefit Concert” on Thursday night at Davis Cattle Farm on Ooltewah-Ringgold Road. All proceeds will be divided between Ringgold High School’s band and athletic programs.

Fans need only bring their folding chairs for the outdoor concert. But Turner said he’s bringing full production for the fundraiser.

“We’ve got video, lights, sets, everything. We’ll have fun,” he said.
