Three paddleboarders were rescued after being stranded on the Tennessee River tonight when a severe storm came through the Chattanooga area.
The three women were near the riverfront on two paddleboards when the storm hit, according to a press release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.
They paddled over to Maclellan Island where they took shelter under a boat dock and called 911, according to the release.
Firefighters assigned to the fire boat were already near the scene due to Riverbend and found the women. They appeared to be a little rattled but not hurt, according to Lt. Chad Rogers.
They were taken by boat to Coolidge Park where their vehicles were parked, according to the release.
The women’s names were not available.
