The Lookout Mountain Conservancy is again hosting Trail Beneath the Trail, a fundraiser for its Howard High School Intern Program, at Ruby Falls Thursday, Feb. 25 from 6-8 p.m.
“It’s a unique experience to hear music in a cavern 265 feet below the ground,” LMC CEO Robyn Carlton said of the event, which features live music performed by Fletcher Bright, Laura Walker and the Travelin’ Tenneseans, the Von Womps & the Knob Creek Girls, and Robin Burk & Angela Baucom. “After last year, people were falling all over themselves about the experience they had.”
Along with enjoying the entertainment, beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres, guests can also meet the internship program participants and learn how it has impacted their lives firsthand, she said.
Developed in 2013, the internship program exposes Howard students and graduates to nature and conservation as they preserve and protect the area’s natural resources. The paid internships provide the students not only with income, but also professional skills useful later in life, said Carlton.
