Statue removal is shortsighted and more letters to the editors

Reader praises Balazs column

Thank you, Thomas Balazs, for this sane and equitable analysis of Charlottesville and its Chattanooga repercussions. Your Friday commentary, “A plague on both their houses” (page B6), confirms me in the opinion that, rather than our media chiefly relying on the analyses of major news outlets and commentators (both sides of which take fairly predictable perspectives), there are important local voices that can speak to national issues in a way that brings clarity. The criticism of the far-right forces must not stop; but it seems as if the critique of the far left has scarcely begun.
