Georgia redshirt freshman quarterback Aaron Murray suffered a bruised bone in his left knee and a chest contusion during Saturday’s 49-31 loss at Auburn.
Bulldogs coach Mark Richt said Monday night that he was more concerned with Murray’s knee following the game but that it’s the chest injury that is bothering the 6-foot-1, 209-pounder the most. Georgia has an open date this weekend before hosting Georgia Tech on Nov. 27.
“Right now he’s day-to-day with the practicing,” Richt said. “There is no guarantee he will play in the game, but we’re thinking there is a good chance that he will. We don’t know that for certain.”
Richt added that defensive end Demarcus Dobbs and cornerback Sanders Commings, two other starters who left the game at Auburn, should be fine for the regular-season finale. The Bulldogs’ scheduled practice Monday was canceled.
The Georgia-Georgia Tech game was picked up Monday by ESPN and will kick off at 7:45 p.m., making it the first night game at Sanford Stadium in the rivalry’s history. It’s also the first evening matchup at Sanford this season, as Georgia’s first five home games each kicked off before 1.
