Alabama signed four tailbacks in 2013 who were ranked among Rivals.com’s top 100 national prospects.
Only one remains in good standing with the Crimson Tide.
Tyren Jones, who rushed for 224 yards and averaged 6.2 yards per carry this past season, was suspended indefinitely Tuesday afternoon. Coach Nick Saban said the 5-foot-9, 212-pounder from Marietta, Ga., is being disciplined for “conduct not to the standard of the Alabama football program.”
Jones was suspended for the LSU game in early November but bounced back two weeks later for the most productive game of his career, when he rushed 11 times for 75 yards and a touchdown in the 48-14 win over Western Carolina.
Derrick Henry, the highest-rated tailback in Alabama’s 2013 class, is the projected starter for 2015, but Alvin Kamara and Altee Tenpenny have left the program. Kamara transferred out a little more than a year ago and played this past season at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College before recently enrolling at Tennessee.
