Chris Gobble, 29

Senior director of public policy, Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce; Director of legislation and policy, Department of Safety & Homeland Security during the Haslam administration; 2017 recipient, Hutto/Thrasher Award (voted on by all legislative liaisons in state government and given to the individual who embodies the best characteristics of a liaison and who receives majority vote among his/her peers)

Who’s your favorite “Game of Thrones” character?

Ghost, because I have a dog of my own and they are the best animals in the world. Don’t @ me.

Which GOT character do you think you would be?

Samwell Tarly, because he is thoughtful, calculated, intentional and loyal.

Who would you have put on the Iron Throne?

Tyrion Lannister, because he was dealt a tough hand, continually overcame his obstacles, and while not being perfect, always attempted to do what he thought was best. I think he would have ultimately ruled in a fair and noble manner.

Last book you read and/or show you binge-watched?

“The Black Swan” by Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

If you ruled the world (or Chattanooga), what would you change?

I would decree that the Atlanta Braves have an automatic birth to the National League Division Series every year. Winning the World Series still must be earned, but the 162-game season would be more of a warm-up for the Braves. #ChopOn

Who would be on your advisory council?

Carson, Chad, Conrad, Matt, Max and Sarah, in no particular order. They know who they are and they know why they are on this list.

Is ruler a position you’d even want?

No. I would much rather work alongside and develop strategic plans with appointed or elected officials.

What drives you professionally and/or personally?

I am competitive by nature. I enjoy healthy competition, be it on an intramural kickball team or working to pass a bill through the General Assembly.

What’s one thing you’d really like to accomplish?

Has that goal changed over the years? I would like to own my own business one day. This has always been a goal of mine. I am fortunate to get to work with many entrepreneurs in Chattanooga. Their passion, drive and work ethic is inspiring. These are the folks that really make this country work, and being able to contribute to that would be a huge accomplishment for me.
