A woman stabbed her 67-year-old boyfriend after an argument this morning at an apartment building on East 11th Street about 4 a.m. this morning, officials said.
Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said James Stoudemire was asleep in his bed when a woman stabbed him in the neck. Mr. Stoudemire told police the woman was his live-in girlfriend, Sondra Benton.
Ms. Benton then left the apartment and stopped in the lobby to get her identification. When Mr. Stoudemire entered the lobby to report the incident to security, Ms. Benton fled the scene, police said.
According to Sgt. Weary, Mr. Stoudemire was taken to Erlanger for his injury. His current condition is unknown.
Warrants were sought against Benton for aggravated assault, but police say she has not yet been picked up.
