Your Thursday at a glance:
- Weather: Sunny, high of 82.
- What we’re eating: Got a cast iron skillet? Here’s a recipe for how to bake a big chocolate chip cookie in it.
- What we’re remembering: This 1975 color photo of UTC cheerleaders was a bit of a mystery. That is until a reader reached out this week to help us identify the students.
- What we’re proud of: Silverdale Baptist junior quarterback Brett Rogers was named as this week’s TFP Player of Week.
Good morning, Chattanooga!
Remember the Vax 4 Cash program that the city of Chattanooga announced a few weeks ago?
Well, now more than 17,000 Hamilton County residents have thrown their hats into the ring for a chance to win the weekly prizes that include $1,000 plus other incentives like gift cards, skin care and festival tickets.
So far, all three individuals who have won said that getting vaccinated was an easy choice, not just for themselves but for others.
“It isn’t just protection for you, it’s protection for the people around you,” said James Lewis of Hixson. “You’re not doing it just for yourself.”
Now for some recent stories:
TRADER PROS: Read about how Trader Joe’s converted my skeptic colleague who expected to dislike the new store.
PUTTING MONEY DOWN(TOWN): A New York City company has purchased one of the hotels in downtown Chattanooga.
GOOD EATS: This week, all area restaurants due for health inspections scored an 88 or higher.
