Area 61 Gallery, 61 E. Main St., will host the first Friday opening of W. Michael Bush’s latest body of work, “A Mirror on America,” on Friday, July 1.

The thought-provoking exhibit is meant to take viewers out of their comfort zone through works that cast a critical eye on society and what Bush calls “some of its most flagrant ills.”

“This collection is just part of a larger group of works that is designed to stimulate conversation – not argument,” he says. “I just feel that it is time for all of us to do some soul-searching as to how we might help each other through this journey called life.”

The exhibition, which includes “Whose Manifest Destiny,” above, will be on view from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
