VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Sweden coach Peter Elander is trying to keep the United States guessing before their women’s semifinal match.
A coy Elander said after practice Sunday morning that he won’t decide on a starting goalie against the Americans until game time Monday – even though Kim Martin stopped 37 shots and all in the shootout to shock the U.S. in the 2006 Olympics.
Elander says Sara Grahn provides more size.
Martin is the only goalie to beat Canada or the U.S. in international competition. She wouldn’t comment on her status for Monday, deferring to her coach.
Others on the team say Martin will start. She allowed 10 goals against Canada last week.
