The Center for Mindful Living will cease operations at the end of the month, just over a year after it moved out of its physical location on East Main Street.
In the Tuesday announcement emailed to members and supporters, leaders at the center said the decision was made after “our exhausted efforts to adapt and evolve.”
“This was not a decision that we came to easily and not without much thought,” the organization said in an email. “Since 2012, the Center for Mindful Living has provided mindfulness education, created a network of instructors and students, and fostered a lovely community in Chattanooga.”
In July 2020, the center gave up its physical location on East Main Street and took its variety of mindfulness classes and other offerings fully online.
Anthony Crutcher, board chairperson for the center, thanked the organization’s staff and members for their time and energy in creating the space for the community.
“Although our doors as an organization are closing, our mission continues, and lives on in each life that we have touched,” Crutcher said in a statement. “You have my deepest gratitude for the gifts of time, talent, money, encouragement, and many other expressions of support that we have received from you through the years.”
A “Celebration of the Center” is scheduled for Sept. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Church on Main. The organization is accepting donations to cover the closing costs for the center and any extra funds will be donated to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, according to the announcement.
