No question, Battle is the best choice

As a parent, one of the most important decisions is choosing a school where your children will get a good, solid education by the book and one where they learn things like the arts, diversity, teamwork and personal responsibility. At Battle Academy, my kids get that and so much more.

Battle has the best teachers, administration and staff, hands down!

Since I’ve had kids at Battle, every teacher we’ve had has rocked it out of the park! My kids are very different in learning style and personality. At Battle, I don’t have to worry. They are both challenged and supported. And they are both treated as valued members of the Battle society. That comes from the blood, sweat and tears of teachers and staff who care.

I seriously can’t say enough good things about this school. When I look back at all the choices I’ve made for my kids, I can say that I would make the decision to send them to Battle Academy again without hesitation. The only thing that I wish I could say is that Battle Academy goes to the 12th grade. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. Maybe someday!

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week — thank a teacher!

Norton has made firm commitment

After the sudden death of Judge Bob Moon, Judge David Norton was appointed to fill Judge Moon’s seat until the next election. With the election fast approaching, I feel it is important to point out the commitment Judge Norton has given as a General Sessions Court judge.

Judge Norton has made some major alterations in his life to be able to serve. He had to resign his career position, since 1983, as assistant Hamilton County attorney in order to accept the appointment. He also had to resign as Soddy-Daisy city judge, an office which the Soddy-Daisy Citizens elected him for three consecutive terms. Both resignations were irreversible, yet he made them willingly in order to serve where needed.

Judge David Norton, a man of outstanding integrity, is committed to General Sessions Court and is already doing a sensational job. Please join me in confirming my friend as General Sessions judge and vote for him on Aug. 2.

Nursing units key in fundraisng effort

I am a pediatric ICU nurse at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. We are in the final stages of preparing for our 6th Annual Dragon Boat Festival on May 19 with a goal of raising $125,000 for Children’s Hospital Foundation. The money is going toward our patient room renovations project at Children’s. I want to point out the efforts of two nursing units at Children’s Hospital — the two smallest units — that have worked in the extreme to raise money every year for this fundraiser. Children’s PICU and PACU have raised over $10,000 so far this year, and we still have two more weeks to go!

As we celebrate Nursing Excellence Week, I feel this is a fine example of our region’s dedicated and professional nursing staff who truly believes in bringing the best, highest quality care to the kids in our region.

I am proud of the professional staff I work with at Children’s Hospital in all the units, and I would encourage this community to support this worthwhile effort that can only help our kids!
