photo Last years inaugural Santa Claus Pub Crawl netted more than 300 new toys for Toys for Tots. Participants dressed in holiday costumes and donated a new toy. In return, they received discounts and specials at participating restaurants and bars.

Don your favorite Santa, Mrs. Claus or elf costume, bring a new, unwrapped toy and receive special offers and discounts at participating downtown restaurants during the second annual Chattanooga Santa Claus Pub Crawl Saturday.

The inaugural event, created by Chattanooga native and UTK law student Kirby Waddell, resulted in more than 300 toys being donated to the Toys for Tots campaign.

“I couldn’t really count them, but we had two vehicles packed to the brim,” she said. “We had a lot.”

Waddell got the idea while visiting New York City and thought it might work here. She’s hoping this year’s event will be even more successful.

Donated toys will also go to the Salvation Army Angel Tree and Toys for Tots. Receptacles will be located at each location.

In return for the donations, participating restaurants and bars are offer discounts and specials on food/and or drinks.
