Lookouts win in 11

A day after completing a sweep of the Southern League’s North Division regular-season titles, the Chattanooga Lookouts still found a way to entertain the home fans.

Edgar Corcino delivered the game-winning single as the Lookouts beat the Montgomery Biscuits 3-2 in 11 innings Friday night in front of 2,825 at AT&T Field.

Brian Navaretto scored on the final play after hitting a two-out single to left field, then moving to third on Nick Gordon’s single to right.

Gabriel Moya (6-1) allowed no hits and struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief for the win.

Chattanooga led 1-0 after the first inning, when Gordon had a leadoff double, went to third on Corcino’s line-drive single to center field and scored on Lamonte Wade’s sacrifice fly.

Montgomery went ahead in the fifth on Jake Cronenworth’s two-out single to center, which brought home Justin Williams and Mac James. Williams had a leadoff walk and James walked with two outs before Nathan Lukes reached on an infield throwing error to load the bases for Cronenworth, who got caught heading for second on his hit.

The Lookouts made it 2-all in the eighth on Wade’s single that scored Corcino, who had reached on a one-out double.

The third game of the five-game series, the last of the regular season, is tonight at 7:15. Montgomery’s scheduled starter is Anthony Misiewicz (3-1, 3.63), with Chattanooga’s starter to be determined.

The Lookouts are promoting it as college football night, with ticket giveaways for gridiron games.
