MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A judge has ordered a mental health evaluation for a Tennessee police officer charged with killing two people in a car crash while off-duty.

Antonio Marshall, 27, appeared in a Memphis court Wednesday on vehicular homicide charges, news outlets reported. Shelby County Judge Bill Anderson released Marshall on his own recognizance and ordered him to undergo a mental evaluation.

The Memphis Police Department said Marshall was off-duty and driving his Dodge Charger 99 miles per hour on Friday when he hit a Pontiac Bonneville.

The collision split the Bonneville in half. Travis Parham, 19, and Wallace Morris, 42, were killed, police said.

Five seconds before the crash, Marshall was going 114 miles per hour on Walnut Grove Road, where the speed limit is 45 miles per hour, police said.
