Taking a final bow

The curtain is about to fall on the teaching career of musical theatre instructor Allan Ledford, but he leaves a legacy of talented actors who are performing on stages from Chattanooga to New York and Los Angeles.

Mr. Ledford will retire from Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts at the end of May.

Of his 30 years in teaching, he has spent 23 at CCA, where he was a founding faculty member of the performing arts program.

For his years of service, he will be honored Tuesday night when his students present their annual year-end Musical Theatre Showcase. The show has been moved to the Tivoli Theatre in order to accommodate the number of guests expected to attend the tribute.

“Allan has impacted the lives of probably more than 1,000 kids in a meaningful way. He’s an icon in Chattanooga,” said Dan Bowers, president of Allied Arts of Chattanooga.
