Chattanooga Speaks panel to discuss diversity efforts

A panel of top city officials and community leaders will present a discussion and networking forum on racial diversity and community interests from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday night at the Camp House in downtown Chattanooga.

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke, Police Chief Fred Fletcher, retired educator Franklin McCallie, City Councilman Moses Freeman and community business leaders and activists Dr Eleanor Cooper-McCallie, James McKissic, James Chapman, Dr. Linda Wiley and Michelle Peterson will lead a panel discussion on how Chattanooga can avoid the type of racial strife that has led to violent incidents this year in Baltimore, New York and Ferguson, Mo.

The event is organized by Main Street Innovations, a human resources and PR firm in Chattanooga that specializes in diversity. The company previously sponsored the successful Ebony & Ivory Gala 2015 and is working with the Urban League on an upcoming Main Street Mixers event.
