Just forget about the border wall and more letters to the editors

In his letter taking issue with Nancy Pelosi on her claim of an immoral border wall (Jan. 19 edition), a recent writer might have taken into account the moral failure of Trump.

Persons concerned with morality and immigrants should read the inscription on the Statue of Liberty, and they will find that every word has been violated by Trump. Hundreds of refugee children, whose parents traveled to escape death from despots, were torn from their mothers’ arms and thrown into cages (see St. Matthew 18:6, King James Version, for the price to be paid for such as this).

Most criminals and illegal drugs enter by seaports and airports. With far more effective means to protect our border such as constantly improving technology that can detect and inspect those approaching from Mexico, a wall instead would prevent border agents from seeing over it while immigrants dig under.

So why not just forget about a wall to be paid for by dollars and not pesos as promised by Trump and which would be both impractical and immoral?
